Song Binbin was the leader of the Red Guard unit at the school and made the notification of the murder to the Beijing municipal authorities. Song emigrated to the U.S. in 1980. She changed her name to Yan Song. She received her Ph.D degree from M.I.T. in 1989. She is now retired and living in Beijing.

在1980年宋斌斌移居美国，她更改自己的名字叫宋彦。1989年获得麻省理工学院博士生学位，她现在已退休，住在北京。
