I am Arthur Liu in the San Francisco Bay Area and father of two lovely daughters (age 4 and 1.5), and expecting triplets (Boy Girl Boy), today 30 weeks and three days. I have been very excited and concerned since the day we found out that our surrogate is pregnant with triplets, mostly about premature birth and the physical problems the triplets may have as a result. I know it is out of my control and I can only pray that everything goes well with the pregnancy and we can make it to week 34 as the doctor has been telling us. But I cannot help getting nervous when I think about and researching the potential problems triplets may have. Our surrogate had a doctor's appointment today and the babies and the surrogate are doing really well. She is a great lady who gave birth to our first daughter and has a loving family to support her. I am hopeful that she can hold on to the babies until week 34 and beyond. Are there fathers of triplets in the bay area who can share your experience? I feel I need a pat on the shoulder once in a while that everything is going to be fine. Thanks guys! Congratulations on the soon-to-arrive triplets, and welcome aboard! I'm a bit fascinated at the idea of a surrogate mother, agreeing to carry triplets! You asked for fathers of triplets in the bay area, which I'm certainly not. (Unless you count the other side of the Atlantic or Pacific Bay, and farther)as we are in south France. 34 weeks is a great goal to reach. We were just past 34 weeks, maybe a day or two when our babies were born..... also BGB. They are now 4 months old, growing like crazy, and very active. So many people say that multiple babies, and especially premature babies, are developmentally delayed. We've found it to be exactly the opposit with ours. The just turned four months old this past week, and all three are trying to talk, and trying to crawl. Naturally, they must allow some of their other muscles to grow before they can crawl well, but they try. And they smile all the time, except when hungry or tired of course. Hopefully you have everything you need, as it's nearly impossible to prepare completely. With two daughters already, you've obviously been through the ropes before, just at a much smaller level. Hope you like the forum, and best of luck over the next few weeks. It is reassuring to hear that your triplets are doing so well. I guess a bit of worry is normal under the circumstances. I pray that my babies be healthy. But I am determined to deal with whatever comes up and take good care of them and lay a good foundation for their lives to be a success. Our surrogate is so good. She was a bit worried at the beginning after she found out that she is pregnant with triplets. But she has been doing so well and has a very supportive family. She gave birth to my first daughter. I brought my two daughters to visit her and her family in the middle of August. She loved them and we had a great time together. Your triplets are just about six months ahead of me and your experience will be so helpful. I may be calling you every day for your advice. LOL. I have got pretty much every big item we need for the triplets, cribs, high chairs, triplet stroller, car seats and et al. I have not decided on the van since it is a bit difficult to find exactly what we need for the big family. But I will make a decision in the next week or so. Again thank you for your response and I wish you and your family the best. It is amazing how much knowledge and expertise has improved since our three guys were born 12 years ago. I am sure all will go fine! Congrats and let us know if we can be of any help! We had a bit of scare two days ago when our surrogate mother had huge contractions. She was instructed to go to the Labor and Delivery Department and she did. It turned out everything was fine and she was prescribed medication to stop the contraction. We have made it past the 31 week mark, and hopefully she can keep the little ones inside her for another three weeks. I will be asking for your guidance since you have all lived through it. Your advice will be so invaluable. Thanks in advance. Arthur Printer-friendly copy | Reply | Reply with quote | Top
